Nook Labeling

I wanted to make sure I could keep track of our Nooks and who was using them. As a result, I used a combination of mailing labels, library bar-code labels, and permanent markers.

Using my spreadsheet of data, I created labels that had the following information:
Nook #
Simple Touch
Serial #

I put these labels on the back of the Nook, the inside cover (that is under the Nook), and on the corresponding charger cord. I was able encase the cord label with clear book tape.

One of our media specialists created bar-code labels to allow students to check out the Nooks. As you can see from the picture above, this label is also on the back of the Nook.

CONCERN: the rubberized nature of the Nook does not make for the best sticking surface. These labels could easily be peeled off. Because I put these labels on the back of the Nook, which will always be in its case/cover, I'm hoping we will not have any issues. For a general checkout policy, however, I would look for something that's more permanent. Ideas are welcome!!

Because of the above concern, and because the labels are essentially hidden from view, I busted out the permanent marker and labeled the Nook and the spine of the cover. In my experience, those fancy silver markers wear off after a while. I used purple. It doesn't stand out, but you can definitely see it.
